Zachary was named for a local farmer, Darel Zachary, who donated land for a station along the railroad that ran between Memphis and New Orleans. This once sleepy country town has since transformed into an affluent suburb of Baton Rouge, and is now one of the most rapidly expanding small cities in the state.

With its top-rated school system and convenient proximity to Baton Rouge, Zachary is particularly attractive to families with children. An active and engaged sense of community, new business and recreational facilities, and affordable housing in every range are just a few of the ways in which Zachary opens its doors to residents and guests.
